I want to turn this image into a blanket and wrap it around my soul.

Thank god for you, Meghan Deans, that’s all I can say.

YES. One of my favorite moments from Season 1. I think it might be my #1 favorite.

Reading habits meme!

meghanagain:

AND FINALLY I am horribly curious about what books I see people reading in public, and sometimes more than that, what forms these books take. Hardcovers in expensive purses. Shakespeare in overall pockets. Weird editions of public domain classics. Library books with the covers bent back. I rode the subway home with one of my bosses and he pulled from his back pocket an advance readers copy that he’s working through; to make it more carry-friendly he’d ripped it in half along the binding and was only carrying the chapters he had left. As for me: bookmarks almost always/two paperbacks or one hardcover per bag/and if it’s a personal hardcover I always take off the dust jacket. Right now I have a desk full of stuff I am dying to read. It’s a good time to like words.

I’m going to pretend this is a meme!

I like books that can fit in a back pocket, but it’s awfully hard to find good books that size. Most decent novels are now printed in the trade paperback format. You can find classics in bookstores that are in the pocket-sized mass market format, but for recent books it’s only dreck and genre fiction. And even a lot of good genre fiction isn’t even mass-market sized anymore!

I prefer paperbacks to hardcover. I mean, duh. Who doesn’t. I use scraps of paper, receipts, postcards, or envelopes for bookmarks. If it’s hardcover, I leave the dusk jacket on and use the flaps to keep my place. Of course, it’s a little annoying to do that when I’m in the middle of the book and neither flap will easily reach.

I have a little shelf space on my nightstand and it’s crammed with all the books I want to read.

Finding time to read got a lot harder when my son was born, but that was to be expected. I didn’t read anything for the first 4 or 5 months. Now I’m reading again but at a much slower pace (less time).

Also, quitting smoking last year had an effect on my reading habits. I used to use my smoking breaks as my reading time. I did that for years. Whenever I would go outside for a cigarette, I would bring a book. Little ten minute reading breaks, ten or fifteen times a day. When I quit smoking, I found myself reading a lot less and playing a lot more video games. Those little breaks are probably the only thing I truly miss about smoking.

Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog

Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog: All three acts of Doctor Horrible are up! I remember seeing this animated short about ten or fifteen years ago, and it stuck with me. I even emailed Bravo asking for more information (all I could remember about it was the plot), and they actually emailed me back. It was called Shadow Puppets. Every so often I would search for information about it, hoping to find a video of it online. Occasionally I would stumble across other people who remember seeing it, but no video.

Anyway, I remembered it again tonight, and did a search, and I finally found it! It’s ten minutes long, but worth it.

anjalouise:

Daniel Webster is my style icon. Look at that hair! Balding yet totally awesome. When I go bald (and trust me, it’s happening), I hope I can pull this off. Even David Letterman or Bill Murray baldness would be nice. I really worry that I’ll end up looking like Rob Corddry, who has the most terrible bald head I have ever seen. It’s mostly that tiny patch of hair on his forehead that he has to shave so he doesn’t look like an early ’90s ska fan.

joannalovesyou: matt and i are arguing over whether it’s more appropriate to describe george...

joannalovesyou:

matt and i are arguing over whether it’s more appropriate to describe george stephanopoulos as “hunky” or “cute as a button.”

Just for the record, I am on the “cute as a button” side of this argument.
